Let SilverGuard help you make your home safer with IONIC+ antimicrobial protection

With Covid vaccinations well underway for all age groups, and the roll out of booster jabs also in progress we are in a much better position with regards to Covid compared to 12 months ago. However, the emergence of the Omicron variant coupled with the start of winter, what can we do to make our homes as safe as possible?

Following health organisation and government guidelinesi we are all familiar with keeping a social distance, hand washing and wearing a face covering. Our home environments are full of surfaces that can harbour diseases but there are several ways we can reduce our exposure to germs including air borne diseases such as Covid and flu-like diseases to help keep yourself and your families safe.

Wash hands regularly

Keeping your hands clean is one of the most important ways in which we can avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Many diseases and conditions are spread by not washing hands with soap and clean, running water. Being diligent with handwashing will go some way to keeping germs away, but we are all aware that constant washing can also damage the skin. Ways to minimise skin drying out include washing in warm water rather than hot or cold water to stop them from getting dry or try using hand sanitiser when hands are extremely chapped. Make sure you also keep your hands moisturised.

Wear a face mask

In line with new government guidance, in England face masks are now compulsory in most public venues. SilverGuard can offer a range of face coverings – face masks and snoods – to suit your needs. Our antimicrobial layer offers an additional layer of protection against airborne viruses and bacteria. The strengthened nose bridge helps eliminate fogging up of glasses, and the antimicrobial layer is also known to help combat problems associated with maskne.

Clean surfaces and wash products

There are multiple surfaces in the home that are touched frequently such as door handles, light switches, tables, chairs, handrails, kitchen and bathroom surfaces, as well as mobile phones, computers, remote controls, and toys. Cleaning these surfaces frequently lowers the number of germs by physically removing them from surfaces, while disinfecting will eliminate germs with chemicals after cleaning. There a lots of cleaning and disinfecting products on the market that fit the bill, from eco-friendly to multipurpose cleaners. Make sure you chose the products that are right and safe for you and your family.

Also ensure that you wash your towels and bedding at regular intervals. For example, your body can shed on average around 15 million skin cells in one night, while it has also been estimated that a person naturally produced over 95 litres of sweat in bed every year. This means that your bed linens can become a breeding ground for all kinds of bacteria. Laundering clothes, bedding, towels, face coverings and any textile products will also help reduce germs in the home.

Specialist linens and clothing

Some textile products possess a unique feature that makes them antimicrobial. This means that they are self-sanitising and can render germs to be nonviable without you having to do a thing. SilverGuard’s range of textile products all contain IONIC+ silver thread technology which does just this. Our current range of products include aprons and bedding, and we have towels, tea towels and washbags coming in 2022.

Our new bedding range is made from 93% luxurious sateen woven Supima® cotton, combined with 7% IONIC+ to deliver both safety and comfort. The range currently comes in white and includes fitted and flat sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases and cot sheets to fit beds in the following sizes: single, double, King and Super King – something for all the family.

Ensure ventilation

Ventilating an indoor space can help remove air that contains virus and bacteria particles and prevent the spread of Covid. However, with the cooling weather opening windows may not be the most effective means of keeping air circulating. If the weather is too cold to keep windows constantly open then looking to air purifiers and dehumidifiers might be an option, especially those with additional antimicrobial filtration capabilities.

Keeping safe this Winter

Wanting to keep yourself and your family safe has always been top of the agenda, and even more so over these last few years with Covid and lockdowns. SilverGuard can offer a range of antimicrobial textile solutions that can be used in the home and further afield to help address these concerns. All our products are made using Noble Biomaterial’s proprietary IONIC+ silver thread technology which inhibit the growth of microbes, even drug-resistant bacteria and viruses, on the surface of fabrics. The efficacy of IONIC+ has been tested against a wide array of bacteria, viruses and fungi including SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19).ii

With the threat of a new wave of infections due to the Omicron variant becoming likelyiii any actions that can be taken to help keep yourself and your family safe at home are of importance. Stay safe, and stay healthy.
